Financial support

KLS wants every child to be able to join our courses. If your household income is below certain levels, you can apply for a reduced (but never free) course fee — and a lower price to rent a tablet or laptop for the school year (booking opens shortly).

Who can apply

Any parent or guardian registering a child for a KLS course can apply, as long as your household's gross taxable annual income is under the levels shown below. We look at the income of both parents or partners together, and the number of children under 18 in your household.

The scale

The table below shows the discount KLS can apply to your course fee, based on your household's gross annual income (before tax) and the number of children under 18 living in your household. "Under €X" always means strictly less than €X.

Discount1 child2 children3 or more children
75% offunder €30,000under €37,500under €45,000
50% offunder €45,000under €52,500under €60,000
25% offunder €60,000under €67,500under €75,000
  • Household income means the gross (before tax) annual income of both parents or partners living in the household, added together.
  • Children under 18 means children under 18 years old living in the household — not only the child or children registering for a KLS course.

This scale is a guide. KLS always reviews each application individually and may approve a different discount than the table suggests.

Discounts are 25%, 50% or 75%. KLS courses are never free.

What's covered

If your application is approved, your discount applies to:

  • the course fee for the child or children you name in your application;
  • a device rental for your child's school year: €40 instead of €70 (see "Renting a device" on course pages) (booking opens shortly).

Documents

You don't need to send any documents to apply — a signed declaration is enough to start. KLS may ask you for one or more of the following if needed to confirm your discount:

  • your most recent tax assessment ("bulletin d'impôt");
  • your last 3 payslips;
  • your family allowance certificate ("certificat d'allocations familiales");
  • an FNS attestation (see below);
  • proof of household composition ("certificat de composition de ménage").

We will never ask you for your national identification number (matricule). If a document you send shows it, please black it out before sending it to us.

FNS attestations

If you receive the REVIS (revenu d'inclusion sociale) or the cost-of-living allowance (allocation de vie chère), you can send your FNS attestation instead of income documents. KLS will use it to work out your discount.

How long it takes

KLS aims to give you a decision within 10 working days of receiving your application (or, if we ask for documents, within 10 working days of receiving them).

When to apply

You can apply at any time during the school year (2026–27, September to June), for the current school year or for the next one. One application covers your whole household for that school year.

July and August belong to the school year that starts in the following September — for example, a course or device rental in July 2027 counts toward the 2027–28 school year, not 2026–27.

A pending application does not reserve a place in a course. Please register as usual; if your application is approved, your discount is applied automatically.

Privacy

We only use the information you give us to check your eligibility and manage your application. We never ask for your national identification number, and we delete documents shortly after a decision is made. See our full privacy note for details.

Financial support — how we use your information

Why we process your data. We use the information in your financial-support application to provide the service you asked for (assessing and administering your discount), and because KLS has a legitimate interest in checking that discounts go to households that qualify. We do not rely on your consent for this — see our full Privacy Policy for the complete legal basis.

We never ask for your national identification number (matricule). If it appears on a document you send us, please black it out first.

How long we keep your information:

  • Any documents you send us (tax assessments, payslips, certificates, attestations) are deleted within 30 days of your final decision.
  • The income band you were assessed in, and any free-text notes, are removed 12 months after the end of that school year.
  • The decision itself (approved or declined, the tier, and the prices you paid) is kept for 10 years together with KLS's accounting records, as Luxembourg law requires for a non-profit's accounts.

Who can see your information: only KLS administrators handling financial-support applications. Every time someone views your documents, that is logged.

Your rights: you can ask to see, correct, or — where the law allows — delete your information at any time. Contact privacy@kidslifeskills.org to exercise your rights.
