Master the core languages of modern technology, game development, and artificial intelligence!
Coding Leaders — Foundations introduces students to essential computer science concepts through real game creation and robotics engineering.
Lessons start with hands-off logic—analyzing game mechanics, coordinate geometry (X/Y), and variables on whiteboards.
Students code playable Scratch 3.0 games (platformers, maze escapes, and trivia games), program autonomous tasks across our robotic fleet (including Sphero BOLT and Sphero RVR), and train custom Machine Learning models using Machine Learning for Kids (ML4K).
- Hands-Off Logic & Computer Science Concepts: Students explore why code works before writing it. They map coordinate systems, trace variable changes, and draft algorithmic flowcharts for game logic.
- Game Development & Robotics: Kids build complete Scratch 3.0 games with health bars, timers, scoreboards, and animation sequences. They program gyroscope, light, and infrared sensors across robotics to complete autonomous maze missions.
- AI & Digital Citizenship: Students train custom text and image classification models in ML4K and embed them into Scratch projects. They complete Google's Be Internet Awesome digital safety modules, mastering password security and online risk awareness.
- Twice-Yearly Parent Showcases: Mid-year and end-of-year parent showcases give students a platform to project-share their Scratch games, demonstrate their robotics code, and present their AI models to family and friends.
- Added Value for Your Child: Builds academic STEM strength, logical reasoning, and essential cyber safety habits for independent web use.
Practical Information
- Ages: 8–10
- Group size: up to 12 children
- Session Duration: 3 hours per weekly Sunday lesson.
- Prerequisites: None — designed for beginner coders ages 8–10.
- Technology Used: MIT Scratch 3.0, Sphero BOLT, Sphero RVR, Machine Learning for Kids (ML4K), Google Be Internet Awesome.
- Class Structure: Interactive project lab with structured skill-building modules.
- Showcases: Includes mid-year and end-of-year parent presentation sessions.
