Transition from visual block coding to real text-based programming in Python and JavaScript!
Tech Navigators — Innovators Lab is an intensive project studio for experienced pre-teens.
Before writing code, students engage in hands-off algorithmic analysis—writing pseudocode, tracing memory variables, and studying computational efficiency on whiteboards.
Students apply text coding to game development (building 2D Python/JS games), web applications, and wireless micro:bit radio mesh networks.
In AI, students build personal Machine Learning models, embed vision classifiers into mobile apps, and critically analyze AI ethics and bias.
- Hands-Off Logic & Text Algorithms: Students learn computational thinking for text languages. They write pseudocode, draw syntax flowcharts, trace data structures (lists, dictionaries), and analyze algorithm performance.
- Text Game Development & Web Apps: Students code 2D games and interactive web utilities in Python and JavaScript, learning syntax, loops, functions, collision math, and event handlers.
- Hardware Mesh Networks & Robotics: Students build wireless micro:bit radio networks (multi-device messaging and wireless game tag) and program advanced robotics for sensor data logging.
- Applied Machine Learning & Ethics: Students train custom image and audio models, embed ML extensions into mobile apps, and lead structured debates on AI bias, privacy, copyright, and industrial automation.
- Twice-Yearly Parent Showcases: Mid-year and end-of-year showcases feature formal student presentations. Youth present their text-coded apps and games, run live hardware demos, and lead Q&A sessions with parents.
- Added Value for Your Child: Establishes true text-coding fluency and technical independence needed for secondary school computer science success.
